Remembrance

The revelation a few days ago about a cache of art found in a Munich apartment reminded me of a documentary I'd been wanting to see.

The Rape of Europa is about the systematic theft of art throughout Europe by the Nazis.  From plunder to recovery, the full on horror and beauty man is capable of is on display.

The film is a fascinating perspective I hadn't seen before on the war and gave me another way to say "Thank you for your service".

I couldn't get the YouTube link to work but if you search The Rape of Europa, there's a great trailer for the film there.

Thanks, Dale. I haven't seen this one yet. I checked and it is also on Netflix Instant.

I think you'll enjoy it Some Guy. It blew me away. That reminds me - have you seen "The Impostor"? Another fascinating doc.

Yeah, I saw that one. A pretty remarkable story.

I have had it in my Netflix queue for awhile.

There's a movie coming out soon called The Monuments Men that will tell the story using handsome actors on a large Hollywood budget.

I should probably watch the documentary first.

Definitely watch the doc first before they romanticize it too much m'Lady. There are some very satisfying moments in the doc which don't require treacly music to stir the emotion.

This one has been in my Netflix queue for some time also. Because I strive to be like you in all ways and in all things, I will watch it immediately. And by "immediately" I mean when I get around to it.

I wouldn't dare mess with your queue or the pace of same. If you want to be even more behind the times than me, I'm appreciative Mr. Punchman

I'm going to add this to my Neflix list too, since all the cool kids are doing it. Provided of course that Netflix Light ... er Canada ... offers it.

I've heard our version of the Netflix is light on content Barbara. I hope they won't deny you your due! It's a great doc. If not that one, try for "The Impostor", another fascinating and compelling but completely different sort of tale.
