Praise You Like I Should

It’s time for the Thanksgiving Day long weekend again here in Canadaland.

I am thankful

- that I got to see a Monarch butterfly land on the cab of a parked cement truck on a warm October day and then continue on its journey

- that the cement truck was painted all in pink complete with a huge Breast Cancer Awareness ribbon

- that I don’t have to drive that truck

- that I can experience the wonders of the world from the comfort and safety of the great indoors via the BBC Series Planet Earth

- that you’re all there

- and that I don't look like this poor guy anymore (the surgery worked!)

You're Everything I Hoped For

I just wanted to thank all you zany Americans. I know it’s your Thanksgiving and you’re busy not killing family right now and getting ready for the shopping thing tomorrow but I appreciate you all taking time out to think of little old me.

Somehow you crashed the computer systems that make it possible for me to do my job. Sure they’re working on fixing it, but so far you’ve bought me enough time to have breakfast, go to the bank, have a coffee and a tea, fraternize with the uncleansed masses and think about blog posts!

I love each and every one of you! Take that you smelly Canadians! What have you done for me lately?

Oh Happy Day

To my American friends -- may the only fight at your house this Thanksgiving be over the wishbone.

Failing that, go rent Home For The Holidays and suffer and laugh along.

Fat and Happy

Things I'm thankful for this year.

#38:

That a local market will cook Thanksgiving dinner and let me pick it up.

That the meal consists of a whole turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, mixed vegetables, gravy, cranberry sauce and a pumpkin pie.

That's it's not like Mom used to make because it's nice to have gravy that's not crispy for a change.
