There are few things I'm really good at. Right up there on the list though, is rampant personal consumerism. Taking me by more surprise than my credit card bill is the fact that now, I seem to have fallen in love. With a machine.
For a couple of weeks now, I've been cooing and calling my shiny new iMac 'baby'. I haven't heard back on my request for parental leave at work yet but I'm a patient man, I learned it from working with a PC.
Through several operating systems now, I've heard Mac fans sing the praises of their magical computing machines and now I understand. From box to desktop took all of 5 minutes and since then, there's been not a hint of concern from my whisper quiet baby.
Rather than go on like an ex-smoker insulted by a whiff of stray cigarette smoke, I’ll just say I’m happy to have had some quality time with PCs over the years but move over, there’s a new kid in town.
A Proud iMac Daddy.

Welcome to the family, Dale! Feel free to ask me anything if you have any questions.
Congrats Dale! I got a Macbook this year, and feel the same way about it. I shall never go back to PC (too bad they won't get Macs at work!) Enjoy your new baby :O)
Did your appearance change from PC guy to Mac dude when you looked in the mirror?
Don't see it, it's really stupid. Congrats on your Mac, Daddy.
Breaking up with my PC was like ending a completely dysfunctional relationship wherein both parties hung around promising and hoping things would get better though they never did. Congratulations, Dale.
Now, hopefully, Apple won't screw it up...for a while at least...
I've been thinking of making the switch myself... hmmmmmm...
I'm an excellent babysitter - references and all. Please send immediately. Also money to order pizza.
Glad you are enjoying the Mac. I made the switch two years ago, and haven't looked back.
You will never look back.
I have had mine since '03 and there have never been any regrets!
The proud Mac daddy!
I've always heard that once you go Mac you never go back.
I wonder if my Rowbear, he what runs an IT company, would allow us to have them at home...?
Congratulations, darling!
So let me know how your really feel when the honeymoon is over.
I would LOVE to get a mac, I think.
Welcome to the club!
When I was still living with my son's mother many years ago, I was using the PC she owned, and found it very frustrating to use. When I decided to buy a computer of my own, my friends were adamant in telling me to get a Mac. I finally went out and bought one and to my surprise, was able to easily use it immediately upon taking it out of the box and plugging it in.
I've done professional work on both PC's and Macs and frankly I can't understand why anyone would use a PC if they don't have to. To quote that noted philosopher on Macs, Deadspot, "They don't suck."
I trust we will all be receiving invitations to the bris?
Hey PJ, thanks for the offer. My only question would be could I have the money to pay it off? :-)
I'm not sure why I waited so long Mel. Those MacBooks look pretty damned awesome.
Even the PC guy is much cooler than I'll ever be Skyler's Dad. All the mirrors here are covered.
Thankfully CP, I read my own labels occasionally and eventually was able to figure out what you meant. No plans to see it unless it's against my will.
So far, the family's treating me better than my old one did Echo so it's magical for the time being.
I know how hard thinking can be Falwless so I support you at this difficult time.
You don't ask for much Suze so you're on the short list at this point.
Never look back, never surrender Allison. If only.
Good to hear Fran, I'm in some awesome company!
Just accidentally set his 200 PCs on fire Tanya and then remind him that Macs are sexy.
The honeymoon continues Bluez but if the bloom fades, I'll let you know too in a riled and angry post.
That Deadspot's a man of wisdom Johnny Yen. Switching over finds me spending more time at the keyboard than I have in a while, some sort of Mac attack I guess.
Ouch Barbara. I'll do a live internet broadcast and invite Radiohead too!
Macs are beautious things... I've worked on 'em since 1987 or 88. I'm bilingual, though, and usually have a PC of some kind at home. My current iMac, though, can run both Windows XP and OS X at the same time, so I can have both PC and Mac applications running together.
Happy daze!
i am still thinking of getting a MAC
I love Macs. I even have one. Unfortunately, it's a Quad, way too old and slow for the Internet. I'll get another one, though, before I die.
I guess that makes me bilingual now too then Chris. I can't believe how smoothly everything works on the Mac though, from plugging in peripherals that just work without annoying you or having you stand on one leg and hold your breath - loving it.
Hold on to that thought DCap and then let it out in a store.
I'd prefer you get it before you die too X. Dell, shopping in the afterlife is bound to be less than satisfying.
cracking me the hell up. yes i too blogged about my lil baby. I love my imac, could have sex with my imac and daily fondle her. nice to meet ya potd. wow that kindof looks like pothead. Okay I am a weirdo and I will stop now.
Hello weirdo, I mean Just a Girl! I bet people would pay good money to see you turning on that Mac and by people I mean me! Nice to meet you too. You holding?
