I finished reading Chuck Palahniuk's novel Haunted today. I enjoyed it as I do all of Chuck's sunshiney tales.
As you can see, the cover is quite something. It was designed by Michael Collica. It's a striking colour and complimented what I wore to work today. That's a different issue.
I thought I would introduce the book to a bookshelf downstairs.
On my way down, I thought I'd pop into the laundry room. I walked in in the dark with book in hand. Something caught my eye and I almost threw the book across the room.
The cover glows in the dark! It's even creepier than the non glowing version.
Thanks Michael.
Michael? Meet Poe. She wrote a brilliant CD called Haunted. Poe? Call me. Hello. Where are you?
I wonder if my blog glows in the dark? Can someone hold it under the light a few minutes and then check it? Thanks. You're the best.

I love Poe. Do you have her first cd "Hello"?
I have both Poe CDs and even the Conjure One CDs with her voice on some tracks. She is fantastic!
That cover has caught my attention several times. Did you ever see the cover of Berserk by Tim Lebbon? The paperback version. Creepy. I did enjoy the book. http://shocklines.stores.yahoo.net/bebytimlebma.html
I'd love to see that outfit, somehow I can't picture you wearing powder blue and white.
Is that the Poe who used to be a lanky blonde and dueted on a Fastball song? S
From the moment I heard Hello, I knew something was up. And then when she worked the phrase 'jedi mind tricks' into a song, well! She's pretty damned great Mellowlee. If she calls you first, let me know.
Rinda, that cover by Tim Lebbon is disturbing for sure. But does it glow in the dark unexpectedly? I'd be afraid to try it out.
That's the same girl Creepy. Oh, and the cover on my book is more sort of purple or violet or some variation and it was on my shirt. Shutup!
Damn, Dale. Where do you find the time to read? I never do anymore.
Great to hear you're a fan of Palahniuk, as well as Poe. What ever happened to her? I know her brother wrote that House Of Leaves book, which I own but haven't ever gotten around to reading, but what has she been up to?
Poe, Poe, where have you gone? I listened to this CD on the way back from Arizona recently. Still genius after all these years.
The Chuck cover reminds me of THIS weird painting I did of Alice in Wonderland. Maybe someone will use it on a book cover someday.
Your blog glows in the dark in my house, Dale. Like a cracked out firefly.
I love Chuck. Have you read any Ryu Murakami? His book 'Almost Transparent Blue' was pretty cool...
You're working for The Man now aren't you Reese? Bring a book!
I think poor Poe got stuck in the brambles with her record company and is now in hiding sending me secret messages through your fillings Mob. Read Danielewski's book, it's a strange not so little tale.
You did the Pitt from Fight Club painting too though too didn't you Saviour? Maybe that'll go on the next edition of FC? Call Chuck. And I knew you'd rise to the challenge and check out the lighter qualities of my blog. Just don't keep me in a jar.
I'll look up Ryu Ziggy as I haven't heard of him. Always nice to get introduced to new stuff.
The monitor was a bitch to pick up (I got the old school 75 pounder) but I held it under the light for 30 seconds and sorry dude it was a no-go. Your blog does not glow in the dark.
There is some kind of unusual watermark shimmering in the dim light.
I can't quite make out what it says though...
One of my favorite Poe songs is one Saviour Onassis gave me: she does a terrific cover of "I'm Just a Girl Who Can't Say No" from Oklahoma!
As for myself, I can't say no to Poe. I wish she'd give me more opportunity to say yes.
I never took that book into the dark with me. But whenever I was reading it, my kids asked me to cover up the front. (g)
At least your words glow (schwaaaaaaaaah!).
So, the book was good? I seem to remember it received less-than-stellar reviews ... but what do reviewers know?
Shroom, it's not me, it's you. Go for the newer light weight 72 pounder, it'll glow. If it doesn't, add shrooms.
It says 'ultra toast mosha god, turn out the dim light or this will never work'
Sounds like a funny and strange song Holly, and isn't it odd that my profile used to say I'm just a guy who can't say no? I didn't even realize where it was from. No to Poe though? No.
And as the good Mom Rinda, you did cover the cover I hope! Spooky stuff boys and girls.
Is that the HBO or Simpsons schwaaaaaaaaah by any chance Beth? They sound alike. Or a wholly different schwaaaaaaaaah?
The book had a really strong and horrifying start and wonderful ideas but overall, I'd give it a less than glowing review.
You seriously don't know that song, Dale?
This is a problem.
It begins:
I'm just a girl who can't say no, I'm in a terrible fix.
I always say 'Come on, let's go!' just when I oughta say nix.
When a person tries to kiss a girl, I know she oughta give his face a smack.
But as soon as someone kisses me, I somehow, sorta, wanna kiss him back!
Other memorable lines (actually the whole song is memorable, but I can't find all the lyrics on the web, so I'm going from memory here) include
Other girls play coy and hard to catch,
but other girls ain't having any fun.
Everytime I lose that wrestling match, I have a funny feeling that I've won!
Poe's cover is magnificent.
Hey Dale, check this out!

Holly, I think I do know the song now that I see some of the lyrics typed out like that. I'll have to find Poe's version of it. Thanks for the memory jog.
Mellowlee - your photo looks a bit like the Haunted CD cover. Thanks for the video link. Now if she'd just put out a new CD and have it be briliant!
