The mother is actually proud of her 11 year-old daughter for keeping the baby? I think this might be a sign of the apocalypse...

I’m sure the good ol’ U.S. of A. hit this milestone on the Disintegration of Civilization Highway long ago. In L.A. proper, they’d be all “Eleven? Whatch you saving it for, Grrr?” Here in Indy, it’s family tradition—between cousins.

I’ll let you know about the Mark Haddon. Who knew he was a poet!

dale, is that story from this universe or did you receive it from your doppelganger in a parallel dimension? Seriously, that made my head hurt and I feel horrible for that girl.

Creepy - Think of all the things she's not proud of.

Robert - Snort, the L.A. remark killed me especially.

Chelene - It's a this universe thing. I once saw my doppleganger (a word I used just yesterday) and it scared me. Oh, and I feel pretty damned horrible for that kid too.

Vicky's got some competition now! Can't wait to see the stroller this one'll eventually have. Sheesh.

I'm sure she is looking forward to being a grandma at 22 and a great grandmother at 33.

Sigh. Pretty awful in'nt?

Ugh, that's awful - but with the way things are going in general I really am not surprised... and that's quite sad. I had 5 students leave in the middle of the semester to give birth - they were heavily pregnant for the first part - and then return to finish (the babies stayed at home). What are we doing wrong?!

It's shocking and very sad Bre.

I tried leaving a comment before but I must not have pressed something correctly as my nails are too long to hit the laptop keyboard correctly - or maybe you just didn't want me joining your little party...Anyway, what I said was, Who hasn't had a baby at 11?

Dale said...

I was a late bloomer, I had my first when I was 12. The baby came out that way I mean. 12. It's raining here, keep having your party in NY.

I was sick to my stomach for 2 days, don't know why, so I am behind in my browsing, and only managed to drag my carcass around to the Strand and Filene's Basement and Century 21.

Items purchased:
1 giant teacup
cork wedges (they go on your feet, not your bum)
a purse that looks like take-out chinee foo container (american style, not canadian - nice aluminum circular bedpan thing)
and lots of books from the Strand, both main and annex locations - details to follow
Will I ever see you again? I miss you, come over this weekend and touch my books, dirty boy!

You will see me again. I can feel it. You know what I mean.
