I Ain't Missing You At All

At the top of my street, there's a car wash, the kind that's drive in, self serve and coin operated. Turn the dial to your desired soap and spray combination, put your change in and do the chamois shake.

The car wash has been there as long as I can remember. It sees a lot of action because let's face it, car pride and thriftiness go hand in hand.

Today, I noticed a professionally painted sign on top I hadn't seen before. It says STILL A CAR WASH.

Why would anyone affix that sign to the building when it's function is so singularly determined already?

Am I missing something?

Maybe the homeless took to chamois-bathing there at night and the local car owners were getting confused.

The sign perhaps could have put more emphasis on the word "car". Maybe an underline or some italics would be appropriate.

I like your theory. To make sure it's done right, should I hire someone to do the emphasis professionally or just pay one of the bums to do it?

Maybe it's Still: A Car Wash, a tribute to that Lionel Ritchie classic.

Your call. I entrust all bum and bum-related miscellany to you, Dale.

If you're going to hire a professional I'd suggest:

STILL A BAR LUSH?

Repeat customers like it when a sales staff can relate.

Probably an inside joke.

Very funny Beth. He could get his 70's hair and his car washed at the same time.

I should have smelled that one coming Chelene.

Sound advice Coolcat and with you polishing off fancy bottles of champagne earlier, you're the go to guy on this.

An inside joke about exterior surfaces. Could be Old Lady.

Lionel Richie did not sing Car Wash that was Rose Royce. I saw them at some horrible disco reunion show with that tramp KC and the Sunshine band....

I like the automated carwashes you drive through, those make for good entertainment...

That sounds odd, like something aliens would write if they landed on earth and wanted to blend in. The car wash is their cover, they're living underneath it. I can feel it in my bones.

Bring your big eyes to the car wash Shroomy. Lionel sang STILL. Did they let Rose Royce sing more than just the Car Wash song? If so, that's troubling entertainment right there.

So your bones are underground too Angela? Is it only your lips roaming the earth looking for...?

It's possible we are all being too literal. Maybe it's saying a carwash at rest cannot be stopped.

That's a very poetic take on it. Still drunk?

My bad....

I never gave a shit about old Lionel Richie. He lost me at Endless Love... Tooo much sap, stopped me dead in my tracks.

I need that visine stuff... my eyes are getting cloudy...

Maybe it was a crackhouse for a couple of weeks.

Hello....is it me you're washing for? I can see it in your eyes, I can smell it in your fur...never mind.
