Music To Make Friends By

A few weeks back, Creepy had posted a photo on his blog of his nice shiny new set of DC Comics stamps that he had framed. I thought this was a cool idea and since I like comics and interesting stuff on the walls of my TV room, I ordered a set from the United States Postal Service. They showed up in pretty good time although the shipping cost almost as much as the stamps themselves.

I stopped in to see my favourite framing guy today. He's an Asian guy who runs an art and framing shoppe with his wife. He has a lot of his own photography hanging on the walls for sale and it's all amazing stuff. I think of him as sort of a Leonardo da Chinki. I let him pick out the mattes and frames because he's got a really great eye (and one milky one) and I trust his judgement.

20 dollah he says. 20 dollah I say? Okay. It be ready Monday. Okay.

I pay his beautiful wife (the Kimona Lisa) and bow and sank you all the way out.

All that just to get you to listen to this song from Avenue Q still running on Broadway. If you haven't seen it and get the chance, it's well worth it. The Bolt link isn't always working. The song is called Everyone's A Little Bit Racist. It's funny and true.

Upload music at Bolt.

I second Dale's suggestion. I've seen this show on Broadway, at full price, three times. It's fantastic.

I saw it twice as well CP and was headed for a third time but had to cancel the trip. It was hysterically funny (the show, not the cancellation). Next time I think it's going to have to be Grey Gardens for me though, that sounds too good to pass up.

2o? A good framing and backing costs 200 here and you don't even get to give the people nicknames.

Justacoolcat stole my comment. I'm still amazed that you can get something matted and framed -- and done well -- for $20, Canadian or U.S.

I should change that. It was actually 40 bucks (still not bad, I know but I think I was going to type out *twenny* because it would sound more racialist as Ali G might say, and then I saw something shiny and was distracted.

But, JCC and Beth, more importantly, did you listen to the song? I'll be nice and show you the framed stamp masterpiece when it's done if you do.

I did not listen to the song. The song window has a graphic that says "Loading Bolt" with a spinning graphic that looks *faux-bolt from the graphical utilitarian icon era. I did listen to Mary Margaret O'Hara many times last night. It was the test song when I was connecting the 7.1 surround. Both The Wifey and I were impressed and subsuquently we are going to **Electric Fetus in
an hour.

* I don't know what I'm talking about.
**It's a music lovers paradise.

Okay, this comment didn't take the first time. Try, try, again, I always say.

Framing the stamps is an excellent idea, for the artwork is the main thing. I haven't seen "Avenue Q," yet, but I probably will. I have listened to a number of the tracks on the original cast album, however. Wasn't too thrilled with the music. But, there's no accounting for taste, I suppose.

Try it again Coolcat, I think I fixed it. Glad you and the Wifey were so taken with MMO'Hara. I wonder if you'll be able to find a copy of her CD.

X. Dell, It's not so much about the music as the presentation and the comedy of it all live with that show, it's exceedingly funny and if you don't think so, I'm not going to talk about my stamp collection any more!

Great song, funny stuff, very dead-on behavior.

I did listen to the song, Dale, and enjoyed. Sorry I didn't mention it earlier; I was that blown away with the $20 (now $40) framing job.

Dale said...

It's a great and funny show Mob. Other song titles include What Do You Do With a B.A. in English? and
The Internet is for Porn.

So you're saying it was a blown job?

Cup said...

Totally blown job. Congrats, Dale.

I'll tell you what you do with a BA in English. You go get your MA in something else or.....you become a BARISTA! Cha! Cha! Cha!

This is completely off-topic, but can I just say that sometimes, blogger really sucks? I have been checking all my favorite blogs on blogger all weekend and wondering why everyone took the weekend off. Then when Monday morning rolled around and STILL there was nothing new from the terribly prolific Dale, I thought, "maybe it's time to hit the refresh key."

And behold! There appeared a whole slew of great posts that I missed out on. They'd been there for days, but I just didn't know how to find them.

I guess the internet really is for porn.

Couldn't resist Beth!

At least you'd have some mad skills and free drinks Tenacious S! I'm lucky to have my MA and my PA still with me, har har.

Now that you're refreshed after all your porn trolling Holly, I'm so glad you stopped by.

Purell anyone?

I just bought these stamps too! Great minds. But I initially bought them for USING. Then immediately felt guilty.

Dale said...

Oh no, you're not a USER are you Wonderturtle? You seemed so nice at first. I'm glad you're at least feeling guilty.

$20??? Why did I pay $170?

Dale said...

Jesus, what are you people framing with, pure gold? It's a small job with a simple matte and frame so I dunno Creepy. I'll hook you up if you ever come round this way.

Using has lost its gloss since they don't have the licky backs anymore.

Dale said...

You're right Wonderturtle. They banned it I think after Costanza's fiancee bit the dust from the old glue.

Angie Pansey said...

Ah so, my dear Dale. Now I know where you got the cool stamps from.

Great stereotyping too. Chinki references Chinese, yet his Kimono wifey references Japanese. Nice touch of blending Asians together! We all look the same, it's true. So many damn Chinese people think I'm Korean. My own fucking people don't even know what I am!

The world is fucked.

Everyone's a ritter bit lacist Angela! I thought someone would bust me on the mixing there but it had to be you didn't it?

I think all people look the same -ridiculous.
