On How Life Is

On Friday I used a vacation day just because I wanted to. No sick days were harmed in the scheduling of this event. I did next to nothing and revelled in it.

On Saturday, I was to officially declare my triumph at having quit smoking for a year. I woke up at 6 a.m. with a migraine, something that happens maybe once every couple of years. Six hours of curling up into impossibly small versions of myself seemed to cure it.

On Sunday while I was sitting around aging, my lower back began to get a bit sore. I visited the Warhol exhibit which was cool. By Sunday evening I could barely walk.

On Monday, I went to work, suffered through it with the help of some over the counter meds and trooper that I am, let Dr. Lyle Lovett cure my Big Backache for just under 3 hours.

On Tuesday, now, I've been through my blogroll and feel a bit better.

On Wednesday after work, I'm going to try and fit in my Pink Floyd Pulse dvd which arrived yesterday. I'm a minor Floyd fan but this sounded pretty cool.

On and on I go.

Kudos on the Warhol coverage. Despite living in the very same city as the illustrious Warhol Museum, I (shamefully) rarely make it there, as I've always been a bit, well... vexed by his work. We did, however, have a show last summer guest curated by John Waters, of Warhol's "porn." Part of the exhibit space was arranged to resemble a dirty bookstore, replete with private booths with, honestly, Kleenex boxes inside them. It's always intriguing to see how his art is... reinterpreted.

Ouch! You is a mightily cultured man after the weekend! And yes, if you travel down to Hot Lanta you will experience the best of fried cuisine!

Erik, thanks - leave it to John Waters huh? Imagine the glee he felt arriving at the design, very funny stuff.

If it's good enough for Beth and you Old Lady, it's good enough for me I'm sure.

Using the sickdays with impunity is quite liberating, my friend.

Spoil thyself.

I saw the Pulse show twice (once in Miami, then again in Tampa). These were my 3rd and 4th PF shows.

I hope you have a great sound system.

... and a comfortable cushion to place behind you on the couch (for that back problem).

Holy crap!! I totally forgot to congratulate you on the non-smoking thingie!!! CONGRATS! (It was 3 years for me in July)

Hey Mob, can't sully those few hundred days for something so minor, I'll wait for a really good reason.

Ben, have I told you and Will how much I'm enjoying your blog? If not, boy, you're missing out! I'll keep you posted on the Floyd viewing.

Anthony - got a light? Kidding.

I'll fire up the big screen / surround and prop up a big cushion and light a smoke Berry. Okay, I won't do the smoke thing. Congrats to you too! 3 years, that's great.

Dressed up to the eyes
It's a wonderful surprise
To see your shoes and your spirits rise
Throwing out your frown
And just smiling at the sound
And as sleek as a shriek
Spinning round and round
Always take a big bite
It's such a gorgeous sight
To see you eat in the middle of the night
You can never get enough
Enough of this stuff
It's friday
I'm in love

Seems like a roller coaster week for you, my friend. Hopefully Pulse will even things out for the rest of the summer.

I'm counting on Pulse to make sure I still have one X. Dell and then I'll be on to all sorts of other adventures. Like reading your blog.

I hear great things about Pulse. Ofcourse, that friend drinks tea made of various cactus bits and smiles alot if it doesn't make him ill.

About every three months I announce to all my people "today I am celebrating one month of being cigarette free!" It's awesome.

Dale said...

Cactus bits eh? Can't he just smoke something CC?

That is awesome Coaster P. I'm going to do that but announce different things. Smoke free, drink free, drug free, sex free, anything that's absolutely untrue. You're brilliant.

Congrats on a smokeless year. I'm at 7 1/2 months myself. Do you furiously chew toothpicks as well? LOL

Thanks Creepy and congrats. Seven and a half months is great. No toothpicks. I just eat the whole tree.
